The Favorite Son

Jacob's love for Joseph was so great that he gifted him a beautiful coat of many colors. This special coat made Joseph's brothers envious and resentful.


The Jealous Brothers

Joseph's brothers' jealousy grew stronger each day, especially when Joseph told them about his dreams. In one dream, Joseph saw his brothers' sheaves of grain bowing down to his sheaf.

In another, he saw the sun, moon, and eleven stars bowing to him. These dreams made his brothers even more furious.


The Betrayal

One day, while Joseph was searching for his brothers in the fields, they saw an opportunity to get rid of him. They stripped him of his colorful coat and threw him into a dry well.

While in prison, Joseph interpreted the dreams of Pharaoh's cupbearer and baker. When Pharaoh himself had troubling dreams, the cupbearer remembered Joseph's gift.
