The Baby in the Basket
Long ago, in the land of Egypt, there lived a Hebrew woman who gave birth to a beautiful baby boy named Moses. At that time, the Pharaoh had ordered that all Hebrew baby boys be thrown into the Nile River. To protect her child, Moses' mother placed him in a basket and set him afloat on the river, praying for his safety.
The basket floated gently down the river until it was discovered by Pharaoh's daughter. She took pity on the crying baby and decided to raise him as her own son, naming him Moses, which means "drawn out of the water."
Moses Flees to Midian
Moses grew up in the Pharaoh's palace, but he never forgot his Hebrew roots. One day, he saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew slave and, in a moment of anger, Moses struck the Egyptian, killing him. Fearing for his life, Moses fled to the land of Midian, where he started a new life as a shepherd.
In Midian, Moses met and married Zipporah, the daughter of a priest, and they had two sons. Though he had found peace, Moses often wondered about his people in Egypt and their suffering.
The Burning Bush
One day, while tending his flock near Mount Horeb, Moses saw an extraordinary sight: a bush that was on fire but did not burn up. Curious, he approached the bush, and from it, he heard the voice of God calling his name.
God told Moses that He had seen the suffering of the Hebrews in Egypt and had chosen Moses to lead them to freedom. Although Moses was initially afraid and unsure, God promised to be with him and gave him signs to prove His power.
Leading the Hebrews to Freedom
Armed with God's promises and miraculous signs, Moses returned to Egypt and confronted Pharaoh, demanding the release of the Hebrew people. Despite Pharaoh's stubbornness and the ten plagues that struck Egypt, Moses persevered. Finally, Pharaoh relented, and Moses led the Hebrews out of Egypt.
As they journeyed towards the Promised Land, God parted the Red Sea to allow them to escape from Pharaoh's pursuing army. The Hebrews walked through on dry ground, and the sea closed behind them, ensuring their safety.
Through many trials and tribulations, Moses guided his people with faith and determination, teaching them to trust in God's plan.
