Thirsty Crow Story for Kids

A Hot Day

One scorching summer day, a crow named Charlie was flying over a dusty village. The sun blazed down, and Charlie was feeling very thirsty.

He had been searching for water all morning, but every pond and stream he found was dry.

As he flew over the village, he spotted a small garden with a tall pitcher sitting in the middle. "Maybe there's water in that pitcher," Charlie thought, hopeful for a drink.

The Pitcher Problem

Charlie landed next to the pitcher and peered inside. His heart sank when he saw that there was only a little bit of water at the bottom, too far down for him to reach with his beak.

He tried tipping the pitcher over, but it was too heavy.

Feeling desperate, Charlie took a deep breath and thought hard.

"There must be a way to get that water," he said to himself. He looked around and noticed some small pebbles scattered in the garden.

The Clever Solution

An idea sparked in Charlie's mind. He picked up one of the pebbles with his beak and dropped it into the pitcher. Then he picked up another pebble and did the same.

With each pebble he dropped, the water level in the pitcher rose a little higher.

Charlie continued this process, tirelessly dropping pebble after pebble into the pitcher. Slowly but surely, the water level kept rising until it was finally within reach.

The Refreshing Drink

At last, Charlie was able to reach the water with his beak. He drank deeply, feeling the cool, refreshing water quench his thirst.

Charlie was relieved and proud of his clever solution.

He realized that even when things seem difficult, thinking creatively and not giving up can lead to success.

Charlie flew off to share his story with the other crows, hoping to inspire them with his tale of perseverance.
